She holds degrees in political science from Macalester College (B.A.); University of California, Berkeley (M.A.), and Yale University (Ph.D.). Her recent books include Shared Risk: Complex Systems in Seismic Response. 1999. She is currently Co-principal Investigator for the "Secure CITI (Critical Information Technology System)" with Daniel Mosse and Rami Melhem, computer scientists at the University of Pittsburgh. The system will be built in the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Region over the next five years and is funded by the National Science Foundation.
