Research Interests

Geologic processes and history of the Atlantic coastal plain, estuaries and continental shelf.

Current Projects

• Diagenesis of late Quaternary fossil mollusks from the Atlantic coastal plain: Implications for geochronology and paleoclimatology (joint project with Dr. John Wehmiller, Dept. of Geology, University of Delaware).

• Stable isotopes of oxygen and hydrogen as conservative tracers of river input, mixing and outflow from the Chesapeake and Delaware estuaries.

• Paleoceanography and paleoclimatology of the Bering Strait region during the late Quaternary: Stable isotope profiles of living and fossil mollusks.

• Geologic history of Delaware Bay and the adjacent continental shelf from high-resolution seismic surveys.

I currently advise one Ph.D. student in the Department of Geology and one M.S. student in the Oceanography Program.
