Research Interests

Marine malacology; estuarine ecology; mariculture, especially in Central and Northern South America. Currently writing synthesis papers on bivalve, gastropod, and related topics.

Current Projects

• Writing: a) functional morphology and behavior of veligers and early juveniles of the hard clam Mercenaria mercenaria for a book on this species; b) gastropod boreholes in deep-sea molluscan shells, c) a biography of the Carrikers on a coffee plantation in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia, up to 1927.
