Once upon a time there was a party with fixed number of participants labeled by integers. As is usual in parties, they formed groups which were sensed and recorded by special devices. The investigated data is generated by the pair-potential model and sampled by the Metropolis algorithm for fourteen participants. The specific feature of the data is that a successive partition can be either the union or the splitting of the previous one.

Parties and hypergraphs appeared as early as 1941 in the literature (A. Davis, B. B. Gardner and M. R. Gardner, (1941), Deep South: A Social Anthropological Study of Caste and Class , University of Chicago Press.), where 18 ladies attending 14 parties are investigated. It is a special case of partitions when only two groups are considered, whether each person is present or absent in a party.

Theoretical background of biclustering and network identification will be discussed and several examples will be shown.
