Professor Jianjun Huang, co-director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Delaware will teach an employee-only Taiji Quan (Tai Chi) class for University employees beginning November 1st. The class will meet for six weeks from 4:45-5:45 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from November 1- December 13 in Pearson Gym. The cost of the class is 30 Wellness Dollars.

The Confucius Institute is a partnership between the University of Delaware and Xiamen University in Xiamen, China. The broad goals of the Institute include enhancing the understanding of Chinese language and culture on campus and in the greater Delmarva community, strengthening educational and cultural exchange and cooperation, building a strong bridge between the University and the private sector through economic scholarship and entrepreneurship, and promoting a world of multiculturalism.

Taiji Quan is a Chinese system of slow meditative physical exercise designed for relaxation and balance and health. The class is most suitable for intermediates who have some previous experience. The 24 Simplified Taiji Quan will be taught. Two new forms will be introduced during each class, until all 24 forms are learned, and participants should plan to attend all or most sessions in order to benefit from the experience.
