The Athletic Governing Board membership includes two faculty representatives, one of whom must be a woman, a representative of the Alumni Association, the President of the University, the Director of Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics, and two student representatives, one of whom must be a woman. The faculty and alumni members are appointed by the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, and the student representatives are appointed by the Chairperson from among the captains of the men's and women's teams participating in intercollegiate athletics.
The Athletic Governing Board, under the direction of the Trustee Committee on Physical Education, Athletics and Recreation, and the Board of Trustees, has responsibility for the University's intercollegiate athletic programs for men and women, including scheduling and financing. The Governing Board meets at call during the year and reports on its activities to the Trustee Committee on Physical Education, Athletics and Recreation.
