Position Replacement Accounts


Recurring Position Replacement accounts currently exist in most major unit Basic Budget accounts. The purpose of these accounts is to provide flexibility in hiring personnel or taking other personnel actions (i.e., promotions, reclassifications, etc).

If there is a deficit in a Recurring Position Replacement Account at fiscal year end, it will be offset permanently by a permanent reduction of a Basic Budget account within the unit. A surplus in a Recurring Position Replacement Account at fiscal year end will be carried into the next fiscal year.

The authority to use Recurring Position Replacement Accounts may be delegated to others but the head of the unit will be held accountable for the outcome.

Funds temporarily recovered from vacant faculty lines will revert to a central pool of funds to provide a source of funds for temporary teaching and replacements.
