    1. Recommendation from the Committee on Graduate Studies (K. Koford, Chairperson), with the concurrence of the Coordinating Committee on Education (M. Palley, Chairperson), for the permanent status of the Ph.D. in Economics. (Attachment 19)

      WHEREAS,
      the Economics Ph.D. Program has been carefully examined by an external review team and by the Committee on Graduate Studies, and has been discussed at an Open Hearing, and
      WHEREAS,
      the external reviewers find that the program "has met the initial goals they established in their original program," that the program could be strengthened further with additional courses and additional resources, but that "the program is viable in its current form," and the Committee on Graduate Studies unanimously voted for approval of permanent status, be it therefore
      RESOLVED,
      that, effective immediately, the Ph.D. Program in Economics be granted permanent status.

    2. Recommendation from the Committee on Undergraduate Studies (R. Taggart, Chairperson), with the concurrence of the Coordinating Committee on Education (M. Palley, Chairperson), for provisional approval of a new major in Natural Resource Management leading to the B.S. in Agriculture. (Attachment 20)

      WHEREAS,
      the Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Management has been reviewed and public hearings have been held, and
      WHEREAS,
      the appropriate Faculty Senate committees have recommended that this program be given provisional status, be it therefore
      RESOLVED,
      that the Faculty Senate approves provisionally, for four years, the establishment of a new major in Natural Resource Management leading to the B.S. in Agriculture.

    3. Recommendation from the Committee on Undergraduate Studies (R. Taggart, Chairperson), with the concurrence of the Coordinating Committee on Education (M. Palley, Chairperson), for the permanent status of the Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages and Literatures (B.A.F.L.L.). (Attachment 21)

      WHEREAS,
      the major in Foreign Languages and Literatures has proved to be a successful program during its provisional period, and
      WHEREAS,
      the appropriate Faculty Senate committees have recommended that this program be given permanent status, be it therefore
      RESOLVED,
      that, effective immediately, the Bachelor of Arts degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures be granted permanent status.

    4. Recommendation from the Committee on Undergraduate Studies (R. Taggart, Chairperson), with the concurrence of the Coordinating Committee on Education (M. Palley, Chairperson), for provisional approval of a new degree leading to the Bachelor of Computer Engineering (B.Cp.E.). (Attachment 22)

      WHEREAS,
      there is a clear need for a new degree in Computer Engineering, and
      WHEREAS,
      public hearings have been held and the appropriate Faculty Senate committees have recommended that this program be given provisional status, be it therefore
      RESOLVED,
      that the Faculty Senate approves provisionally, for four years, the establishment of a new degree leading to the Bachelor of Computer Engineering (B.Cp.E.).

    5. Recommendation from the Committee on Undergraduate Studies (R. Taggart, Chairperson), with the concurrence of the Coordinating Committee on Education (M. Palley, Chairperson), for the establishment of a new Honors Degree leading to the Honors Bachelor of Computer Engineering (B.Cp.E.). (Attachment 23)

      RESOLVED,
      that the Faculty Senate approves the establishment of a new Honors Degree leading to the Honors Bachelor of Computer Engineering (B.Cp.E.)

    6. Recommendation from the Committee on Undergraduate Studies (R. Taggart, Chairperson), with the concurrence of the Coordinating Committee on Education (M. Palley, Chairperson), for the establishment of a new Honors Degree leading to the Honors Bachelor of Civil Engineering (B.C.E.). (Attachment 24)

      RESOLVED,
      that the Faculty Senate approves the establishment of a new Honors Degree leading to the Honors Bachelor of Civil Engineering (B.C.E.).

    7. Recommendation from the Committee on Undergraduate Studies (R. Taggart, Chairperson), with the concurrence of the Coordinating Committee on Education (M. Palley, Chairperson), for the establishment of a new Honors Degree leading to the Honors Bachelor of Environmental Engineering (B.En.E.). (Attachment 25)

      RESOLVED,
      that the Faculty Senate approves the establishment of a new Honors Degree leading to the Honors Bachelor of Environmental Engineering (B.En.E.).

    8. Recommendation from the Committee on Undergraduate Studies (R. Taggart, Chairperson), with the concurrence of the Coordinating Committee on Education (M. Palley, Chairperson), for the establishment of a new Honors Degree leading to the Honors B.S. in Human Resources: Apparel Design. (Attachment 26)

      RESOLVED,
      that the Faculty Senate approves the establishment of a new Honors Degree leading to the Honors B.S. in Human Resources: Apparel Design.

    9. Recommendation from the Committee on Undergraduate Studies (R. Taggart, Chairperson), with the concurrence of the Coordinating Committee on Education (M.       RESOLVED,
      that the Faculty Senate approves the establishment of a new Honors Degree leading to the Honors B.S. in Human Resources: Textiles and Clothing: Merchandising.

    10. Recommendation from the Committee on Undergraduate Studies (R. Taggart, Chairperson), with the concurrence of the Coordinating Committee on Education (M. Palley, Chairperson), for the establishment of a new Honors Degree leading to the Honors B.S. in Human Resources: Consumer Economics. (Attachment 28)

      RESOLVED,
      that the Faculty Senate approves the establishment of a new Honors Degree leading to the Honors B.S. in Human Resources: Consumer Economics.

    11. Recommendation from the Committee on Graduate Studies (K. Koford, Chairperson) to raise the minimum TOEFL score for graduate admissions. (Attachment 29)

      WHEREAS,
      the minimum undergraduate TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score for admissions is 550, and 90% of current graduate students have TOEFL scores of at least 550, and
      WHEREAS,
      most research universities have minimum TOEFL scores of at least 550, be it therefore
      RESOLVED,
      that the University minimum TOEFL score for graduate admissions be increased to 50.

    12. Such items as may come before the Senate. (No motion introduced under new business, except a motion to refer to committee, shall be acted upon until the next meeting of the Senate.)
