ARTICLE XIV
REDUCTIONS IN FACULTY POSITIONS
- Reductions in faculty positions proposed as a result of
University-wide extraordinary financial circumstances as defined
in the Statement on Guidelines for Faculty Involvement Related to
Extraordinary Financial Circumstances (Handbook for Faculty,
Section II) shall be implemented only after the procedures
specified in that "Statement" have been followed.
- Reductions in faculty positions proposed because of
financial considerations short of University-wide emergency shall
be implemented only after the department, college, or division
faculties most immediately affected have been given the
opportunity to participate in planning the reduction. The
Faculty Senate Coordinating Committee on Education shall assist
in the development of procedures to be followed at departmental,
college, or division levels in planning such reductions, and
shall submit a timely report and recommendations to the Faculty
Senate. The Faculty Senate shall give its advice and
recommendations to the appropriate administrative offices in a
timely manner.
- Reductions in faculty positions proposed as a result of
the type of reorganization referenced in Trustee Bylaws, Chapter
2,II-D, 2 and II-E, 3 (The University of Delaware Charter and
Bylaws of the Board of Trustees, Revised 1981) shall be
implemented only after the requirements of these bylaws have been
met.
