University of Delaware Figure Skating Club November 2001 Newsletter |
Welcome to our returning members and to our new members. Our skaters have started the competitive season and have shown great success in the regional competitions. I am sure many of our members share in the extra excitement that exists during an Olympic year.
We are pleased to announce that the University of Delaware Figure Skating Club will be hosting the 2002 Philadelphia Areas Competition, April 12-14, 2002. Competition events will be held at The Pond and the University of Delaware. Please watch future newsletters and the club bulletin board (located in the Fred Rust Area) for announcements on how you can participate as a volunteer.
Congratulations to Sandra Shacklady-White who received her Silver Free Style judging appointment.
The Chevrolet Corporation is sponsoring the "Skate to Salt Lake Sweepstakes". Five entrants will win a trip for two to the 2002 State Farm U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Los Angeles in January 2002. In addition, one of those five winners will be announced as the potential winner of the Grand Prize: a trip for two to the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, UT. No purchase is necessary. Sweepstakes is open only to licensed drivers, 18 years of age or older who are legal residents of the U.S. and have online internet access. More information is available in the Fred Rust Area. You can enter before November 19, 2001 by accessing the web site at chevy.com/skatetosaltlake. Good Luck!
These following test sessions are scheduled. If you plan to test, be sure to get your applications in by the deadlines listed below, as these sessions are likely to fill quickly. Applications must be in the lockbox by 5:00 p.m. on the application due dates below.
Dianne Nichols, VP and Test Co-Chair
We thank Joy Lynam for her many years of service as a Board Member and appreciate her ongoing support to the Club. Congratulations to Joyce Smith who will be replacing Joy on the Board. Joy Lynam will continue to maintain our web site.
If you need to cancel a test, you must do so in writing a minimum of a week before the test to receive a refund. Put your written cancellation notice in the UDFSC lockbox in the Rust Arena.
Please put your USFSA number on your test application. If you have not received it yet put "applied."
When completing your pair or dance test application, please be sure to include the partner's name. Directions are on the back of all test applications.
Join us on Sundays in the Rust Ice Arena from 5:00 - 5:45 p.m. for a dance-preferred session and from 5:45 - 6:30 p.m. for a freestyle-preferred session.
The walk-on cost to UDFSC members is $10.00 per session or you may purchase a ticket for $80.00, which reduces the cost to $8.00 per session.
The Pond would like to welcome its newest Board Member, Mrs. Maria Baiocco. Maria will be representing The Pond as its Synchronized Skating liaison.
Parents may want to screen skater fan mail to be sure there is no inappropriate content. Fan mail sent to the USFSA will be forwarded to the skater with a warning letter attached.
