The new program teaches financial planning students to master the in-demand skill of helping individuals and businesses make important financial decisions. Career opportunities abound within banks, financial firms, insurance companies, with investors and more.
UD’s program prepares students using the latest financial planning software and numerous experiential learning opportunities. These include a variety of internships as well as a capstone course, which requires students to create a full financial plan for an individual client.
“The capstone course gives you a real-world situation that allows you to apply what you’ve learned throughout the entire program,” said Gary Ulrich, one of the first graduates from the new program.
Ulrich, who now works as a financial planner with Financial House, describes the program as rigorous and said that it creates industry-ready graduates.
The Certified Financial Planning (CFP) Board has also certified UD’s financial planning program, meaning that graduates earn the CFP Boards Education Requirement. This allows them to sit for the CFP exam immediately, and makes them strong candidates for careers in the industry.
