Since 2012, the Women’s Caucus has presented the Torch Award annually to a woman who has “carried the torch for women’s equality” at UD. The award recognizes and honors an individual on campus who has actively worked to improve the quality of employment of women at UD. Past recipients include Anne Boylan, Mae Carter, Pam Cook and Barbara Settles.
The caucus seeks nominations for the 2016 Torch Award recipient. Nominees must be a past or present UD employee, faculty or staff. Nominations are due by Friday, April 8. Additional details, including the nomination form, may be found online.
An award presentation and reception will be held from noon-1 p.m., Friday, May 6, at Caffé Gelato on Main Street.
General spring meeting, board elections
The general spring meeting of the caucus, including board elections, will be held from noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, at Klondike Kate’s Restaurant on Main Street.
The Women's Caucus is led by a board of up to 15 members, each serving staggered three-year terms. Board members are expected to regularly attend board meetings and general caucus meetings, typically held monthly during the semester. Four seats are up for election this year with new terms beginning June 1. Additional information may be found in the caucus bylaws.
Those interested in running for the board can find information and a nomination form online. Nominations are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, April 11, by email to Megan Gaffney, gaffneym@udel.edu.
Votes from caucus members will be accepted via paper ballot at the general meeting. For those unable to attend the meeting, it will be possible to participate in the elections electronically by requesting an online ballot.
