The current issue features a cover story and an eight-page section on the new Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratory. The section highlights the ways in which the building's innovative design and cutting-edge equipment are being used to teach students in new and engaging ways and to foster collaborative research that addresses some of the world's most pressing problems.
Other stories in the magazine profile alumni who now play on professional sports teams, who managed President Obama's successful 2008 presidential campaign and served as a senior adviser in the White House, whose work teaching and mentoring students as a Harvard professor and researcher is garnering awards, who overcame quadruple amputations to resume a productive and happy life that inspires others, and whose work as a neurosurgeon and researcher includes treating canine cancer patients with a new drug that holds promise for eventual use in humans.
Messenger readers can also enjoy photos and news from such memorable campus events as Spring Commencement ceremonies and the 2013 Alumni Weekend, which drew 5,000 Blue Hens and friends back to campus.
A special insert in the current edition highlights the activities and benefits offered by the UD Alumni Association, a dues-free organization in which all graduates automatically become members.
