Freshman fills 100,000th bottle, receives prize from University Student Centers
8:46 a.m., Sept. 17, 2013--The University of Delaware’s first water bottle refill station, an Elkay EZH2O installed at Perkins Student Center in January 2012, has served its 100,000th Blue Hen.
The machine's installment was the result of a collaborative effort between UD's Sustainability Fund Working Group, the University Student Centers, Facilities Maintenance and Operations Plumbing Services and Cope-Wardell-Ammon Associates Inc.

In celebration of the station’s success, the University Student Centers offered a prize to the patron who filled the 100,000th bottle. Freshman Justin Brooks submitted a photo of him doing that just before 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, and won a prize package that included a Barnes and Noble Nook HD, two reusable shopping bags and a stainless steel water bottle, among additional items.
Brooks said he loves the refill station and looks forward to seeing campus sustainability efforts continue.
The University Student Centers hopes to soon install an additional station at Trabant University Center in support of reusable water bottle use.
