University community reports recent awards, articles

From graduates, faculty
John D'Arcy, assistant professor in the Department of Accounting and MIS, along with colleagues A. Hovav and D. Galletta, received a 2013 Citation of Excellence from the Emerald Management Reviews Editorial Judging Panel. The citation recognizes D'Arcy and his colleagues as the authors of one of the top 50 management, business and economics articles of 2009 for the paper, "User Awareness of Security Countermeasures and its Impact on Information Systems Misuse: A Deterrence Approach," Information Systems Research (2009), Vol. 20, Issue 1.
Four faculty members and a graduate student in UD’s School of Nursing recently won awards:
Shelia Cushing, assistant professor, was the winner of the Delaware Nurse Excellence Award, Academic Nurse Educator, sponsored by the Delaware Nurses Association and the Delaware Organization of Nursing Leaders. She received the award at a ceremony in Dover in July.
Kathy Brewer-Smyth, associate professor, was the recipient of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses 2013 Doctorate-Prepared Researcher Role Award. This award is given to recognize a nurse in a researcher role who has contributed to the advancement of rehabilitation nursing care. She will receive the award in October at the annual ARN conference to be held Oct. 2-5 in Charlotte, N.C.
Jennifer Saylor, assistant professor, received the Florence Nightingale Award from the Beta Xi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International in April.
Paula Klemm, professor, received the 2013 Senior Sportswoman Award from the Delaware Women’s Alliance for Sport and Fitness.
Ronald R. Castaldo, a doctoral student in nursing science, was named an American Association of Nurse Anesthetists Foundation Doctoral Fellow for 2013-14.
The University Museums exhibition “Hassinger & Clark: Boxes, Combs and Constellations” was featured in an ArtDaily article. The author notes that the “visual alchemy” of the featured artists, Maren Hassinger and Sonya Clark, “turn the ordinary into the extraordinary.”
