8:04 a.m., Sept. 25, 2013--JPMorgan Chase invites applications to the Delaware Code for Good Challenge, an event that will enable students to creatively use technology to address a social challenge for a leading non-profit organization.

Any University of Delaware student interested in technology is encouraged to apply online by the Sept. 29 deadline.

Campus Stories

From graduates, faculty

As it neared time for the processional to open the University of Delaware Commencement ceremonies, graduating students and faculty members shared their feelings about what the event means to them.

Doctoral hooding

It was a day of triumph, cheers and collective relief as more than 160 students from 21 nations participated in the University of Delaware's Doctoral Hooding Convocation held Friday morning on The Green.

Earlier this year, UD students took home winning honors at the coding challenge, along with teammates from the University of Pennsylvania and Rochester Institute of Technology. They worked for 14 continuous hours to design a mobile app for United Way of Delaware.

The app helped the non-profit provide Delawareans with easy access to information about their services in real-time via smartphone devices.

The next coding challenge will be held over the weekend of Nov. 1-2 and will include:

  • Teams of students from a variety of different regional universities who will creatively solve a challenge faced by a local nonprofit organization;
  • Advisement from JPMorgan Chase technologists throughout the course of the event; and
  • A panel of judges, including senior technology leaders and representatives from the participating nonprofits, who will judge the teams.

Interested students who would like the opportunity to put their coding skills to use for a good cause should visit the Code for Good webpage for more information and to apply.
