IHRC announces this year's special events and grant opportunities

8:50 a.m., Sept. 13, 2013--The University of Delaware's Interdisciplinary Humanities Research Center (IHRC) has announced its calendar for the current academic year, including such special events as a lecture by a Nobel Prize winner and an international conference.

Located in the College of Arts and Sciences, the IHRC supports multidisciplinary research collaborations and research-related special events programming that are anchored in but not limited to the humanities.

June 6: UDid It! Picnic

All UD faculty and staff members are invited to attend the annual UDid It! employee appreciation picnic, set from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Monday, June 6, on The Green.

This year’s calendar of events related to current projects includes a lecture on “Transnational Encounters” and readings by Mario Vargas Llosa, winner of the 2010 Nobel Prize in Literature; a national conference on “Disability Disclosure in/and Higher Education”; an international conference celebrating the 375th anniversary of the establishment of New Sweden and featuring concurrent sessions at the University of Lund, Sweden; and a lecture and workshop series on “Public Humanities in a Digital World.” Further information about these events can be found on the IHRC website.

A Lunch and Learn session about this year’s grant cycle, featuring brief presentations by faculty about their IHRC projects, will be held  from noon-1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 24, in Room 410, Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratory, with an RSVP required.  

This year’s grant proposal deadline is 5 p.m., Monday, Nov. 4. Further details, submission guidelines and a proposal template are available on the IHRC’s website.
