New Castle man arrested in peeping tom incident


2:05 p.m., Oct. 17, 2013--Newark Police have arrested Cory Disabatino, 55, of New Castle, after an early morning peeping tom incident on Thursday, Oct. 17, in the unit block of Benny Street and the 100 block of South Chapel Street in Newark.

At approximately 1 a.m., members of the Newark Police Street Crimes Unit observed a suspicious man lurking in the rear of two homes in the 100 block of South Chapel Street. He disappeared while the officers were attempting to locate him in the rear yard. 

A search was initiated including officers from Newark Police, UD Police and a canine team from the New Castle County Police Department. While searching for the suspect, a Newark Police officer was contacted by two residents of a home in the unit block of Benny Street who reported that a man, with the same description as the suspect, had just peered into rear windows of their home.

While searching for the suspect, a UD Police officer spotted him on South Chapel Street near Wyoming Road. The man,  who was identified as Disabatino, was taken into custody without incident and positively identified as the person seen in the rear of the homes on Benny Street and South Chapel Street.

After being arrested on two counts of trespassing with intent to peep or peer and two counts of third degree criminal trespass, he was arraigned through JP Court #11 and released on $400 unsecured bail.
