Drug takeback

UD Police Department participates in Drug Takeback event Oct. 26


4:35 p.m., Oct. 29, 2013--As part of the recent DEA Drug Takeback, University of Delaware Police Department officers collected 13 boxes of prescription medicine and nine containers used for sharps, such as syringes, EpiPens and other sharp medical supplies. 

The event was held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26.

UD Police Chief Patrick Ogden thanked the officers who worked on Saturday to help support the initiative, helping to provide a valuable resource to the University community.

This initiative addresses issues of public health and safety. More than 7 million Americans abuse prescription drugs, according to the 2009 Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's National Survey on Drug Use and Health.
