June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

Volunteers return home as global citizens and highly employable by organizations both within and outside the U.S. Those who are interested can apply by Dec. 1 for post-graduation departures.

Some of the benefits of service include medical and dental care, a living allowance, 24 paid vacation days per year and student loan deferment. Upon completion of service, volunteers receive more than $7,000 and have non-competitive eligibility status for most government jobs.

The agency has also established partnerships with colleges and universities that offer academic credit and financial incentives to volunteers during or after Peace Corps service.
