OISS plans Thanksgiving meal for international students, scholars
3:26 p.m., Nov. 19, 2013--Thanksgiving is traditionally a time for feasting and family. At the University of Delaware, the Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS) is working to ensure that international students and scholars are able to experience this uniquely U.S. holiday while on campus.
On Sunday, Nov. 24, OISS will host an evening Thanksgiving meal featuring such traditional fare as turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. Email invitations have gone out with details on how to obtain tickets to this limited-attendance event.

In addition, OISS is working with community volunteers to match international students and scholars with members of the University and local communities for Thanksgiving Day dinner on Thursday, Nov. 28. Members of the community who wish to welcome students and scholars to their Thanksgiving table are asked to complete an online form by Friday, Nov. 22.
OISS will review all student and host requests, and will confirm details on time, location and transportation. In 2012, more than 60 international visitors were matched with host families.
Members of UD’s international community include more than 3,500 students, scholars, and family members from over 100 countries outside of the U.S.
The Office for International Students and Scholars is committed to providing quality advising services and supportive programming to students and scholars during their stay at the University and in the U.S.
In collaboration with campus and community partners, OISS also contributes to the internationalization of UD by providing opportunities for growth through cross-cultural interactions and international programming. More information is available at the OISS website.
