Nov. 6: 'Games and the Digital Humanities'

Center for Textual Studies and Digital Humanities co-director to speak at UD


10:01 a.m., Nov. 4, 2013--Steven E. Jones, co-director of the Center for Textual Studies and Digital Humanities at Loyola University Chicago, will speak on “Games and the Digital Humanities” at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, in 103 Gore Hall on the University of Delaware campus in Newark.

The presentation is sponsored by the Game Studies Research Group at UD as part of its fall “Directions in Game Studies” lecture series.

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

In addition to his work at the center, Jones is the author of several books, including The Emergence of the Digital Humanities (Routledge, 2013), Codename Revolution: The Nintendo Wii Platform (MIT Press, 2012), The Meaning of Video Games: Gaming and Textual Strategies (Routledge, 2008), and Against Technology: From the Luddites to Neo-Luddism (Routledge, 2006).

Members of the campus community are encouraged to attend a stimulating addition to this exciting lecture series, which focuses on topics relevant to students and faculty from across the humanities, literary and cultural studies, communications, and computer and information sciences.
