Awards
Roberta Golinkoff, Unidel H. Rodney Sharp Chair in the School of Education has been chosen to receive the Association for Psychological Science’s 2015 James McKeen Cattell Fellow Award. She will be recognized at the next APS convention. This award is the highest honor conferred by the Association for Psychological Sciences. Golinkoff will jointly share this award for a lifetime of outstanding contributions with Kathy Hirsh-Pasek, her colleague at Temple University.
Books
Ann V. Bell, assistant professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice, recently published a book titled Misconception: Social Class and Infertility in America, Rutgers University Press, 2014.
Presentations
Gregg Silvis, associate university librarian for Information Technology and Digital Initiatives, University of Delaware Library, gave apresentation "Collaborative Projects in Open Access and Enhancing Discoverability of Your Collections via The Digital Public Library ofAmerica" at the 2014 Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) on May 2 in Washington, D.C.
In mid-April, two professors and 16 students from the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics, along with four representatives from PwC, visited William Penn High School in New Castle, Delaware, to discuss financial literacy with students. Topics covered included taxes, rates and withholdings; and saving, investing and building wealth for financially secure futures. The Lerner College and Department of Accounting and MIS then sponsored a group of William Penn students to visit the University of Delaware's campus on Friday, May 16. Students had the opportunity to learn from a presentation by UD's Career Services Center; tour the campus, including the Lerner College Trading Lab and JPMorgan Chase Innovation Center; and enjoy treats from the Moo Mobile and time with YoUDee and Baby Blue.
Promotions
Mark Shiflett, adjunct professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and senior principal investigator at DuPont, has been promoted to DuPont Technical Fellow for his contributions to DuPont Central Research and Development and the field of chemical engineering. A recognized expert in gas solubility measurements and modeling in ionic liquids, Shiflett earned master’s and doctoral degrees in chemical engineering at UD in 1997 and 2002, respectively. He has authored over 65 peer-reviewed publications and is named on 33 patents and he has lectured at over 100 domestic and international conferences.

Rudi Matthee, John and Dorothy Munroe Distinguished Professor of History, published “Alcohol in the Middle East: Ambivalence and Ambiguity,” in Past and Present 222 (2014), supplement 9, “Cultures of Intoxication”, pp. 100-125.
