UD alumni across the nation enjoy summer baseball series

8:03 a.m., June 13, 2014--The University of Delaware alumni summer baseball series is in full swing, with Blue Hens across the country gathering to enjoy the national pastime.

On deck are games in Long Island, Lehigh Valley, New York, Pittsburgh, Boston, Lancaster, Dallas and Houston.

UD ROTC cadets will run from New York City to Miami this month to raise awareness about veterans' affairs.

Saturday, June 21, 11:30 a.m.: Alumni Baseball Series/Long Island. UD alumni will get together for a “peanut free” day at the Bethpage Ballpark in New York as the Long Island Ducks battle the Sugar Land Skeeters in Atlantic League action.

Saturday, June 21, 11:30 a.m.: Lancaster lunch and ‘Les Mis.’ Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Blue Hens are invited to lunch at the Penn Square Grill and a staging of Les Miserables at the Fulton Theatre.

Saturday, June 21, 5:30 p.m.: Alumni Baseball Series/Lehigh Valley. The alumni summer series will continue at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where the Lehigh Valley IronPigs will face the Columbus Clippers.

Sunday, June 22, 11 a.m.: Alumni Baseball Series/New York. Join fellow Blue Hens at Yankee Stadium for an American League East game between the Yanks and the Baltimore Orioles.

Friday, June 27, 6:15 p.m.: New Castle County crab cruise. A “welcome to the neighborhood” crab cruise to welcome new alumni in New Castle County will be held abroad the Riverboat Queen, leaving from the Justison Street dock behind Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant on the Wilmington riverfront.

Saturday, June 28, 7 p.m.: Baltimore Urban Pirates cruise. The Baltimore Alumni Club will host an Urban Pirates cruise for a voyage aboard the Fearless.

Sunday, June 29, 11:30 a.m.: Alumni Baseball Series/Pittsburgh. The Pittsburgh Alumni Club will host a pregame reception at Mullen’s and a game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the New York Mets at PNC Park.

Tuesday, July 1, 5 p.m.: Alumni Baseball Series/Boston. Blue Hens in the Boston area are invited to a pre-game reception at Bertucci’s and a game at Fenway Park as the Boston Red Sox host the Chicago Cubs.

Thursday, July 10, 5:30 p.m.: Dallas happy hour. Alumni in the Dallas area will gather for happy hour at the Sunset Lounge on Ross Avenue.

Friday, July 11, 6:30 p.m.: Alumni Baseball Series/Lancaster. Lancaster alumni invite area Blue Hens to a baseball game between the Lancaster Barnstormers and the Long Island Ducks at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

Saturday, July 12, 4 p.m.: Philadelphia Union soccer. New Castle County alumni will host an event at PPL Park in Chester, Pennsylvania, as the Philadelphia Union host the Colorado Rapids in a Major League Soccer match.

Saturday, July 12, 5 p.m.: Alumni Baseball Series/Dallas. Blue Hens in the Dallas area are invited to a summer alumni baseball series event at Blue Mesa Grill and Globe Life Park in Arlington, where the Texas Rangers will host the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Sunday, July 13, 11 a.m.: Alumni Baseball Series/Houston. Alumni are invited to Lucky’s Pub and Minute Maid Park, where the Houston Astros will host the Boston Red Sox.

Monday, July 14, 8 a.m.: Houston Blue Hens breakfast. Houston area alumni are invited to a morning meal at the Breakfast Klub on Travis Street.

Thursday, July 17, 5:30 p.m.: Alumni Baseball Series/Reading. Alumni in the Reading area are invited to a private party in the LaunchDM Porch followed by Reading Phillies baseball at First Energy Stadium. The Phillies will host the New Britain Rock Cats.

Thursday, July 17, 6 p.m.: Pittsburgh interest meeting. A happy hour and interest meeting for western Pennsylvania Blue Hens will be held on the rooftop of Steel Cactus.

Saturday, July 19, noon: Washington picnic, send-off. An alumni picnic and send-off for new UD students will be held at the Quincy Park picnic shelter in Arlington, Virginia.

Sunday, July 20, 3:30 p.m.: Philadelphia Soul football. Alumni are invited to enjoy a Philadelphia Soul football game at the Wells Fargo Center. The Soul will host the San Jose Sabercats.

Thursday, July 24, 6 p.m.: New Castle County painting class. New Castle County alumni can enjoy happy hour and a painting class at Timothy’s on Creek View Road in Newark.

Sunday, July 27, 11:30 a.m.: Alumni Baseball Series/Seattle. Alumni in the Pacific Northwest will gather at Elysian Fields Brewery and later at Safeco Field to watch an American League baseball game between the host Seattle Mariners and the Baltimore Orioles.
