Bob Nelson, associate professor of hotel, restaurant and institutional management, won the best paper award at the International Convention and Expo Summit, held May 25-28 in Bangkok, Thailand. The paper was titled “An Analysis of Data Regarding Public Private Partnership to Encourage Hotel Development in the United States.” It was coauthored by Jan deRoos of Cornell University. The event is the leading conference in the meeting, incentives, conferencing and exhibitions (MICE) industry for the Asian region.
Presentations
Matthew Weinert, associate professor and director of graduate studies in the Department of Political Science and International Relations, attended the Salzburg Global Seminar on “LGBT and Human Rights: New Challenges, Next Steps," June 2-7. He also presented a paper, "Securitizing Humanity and Humanizing Security: What We Talk About When We Talk About Human Security," at a joint Peace Science Society-International Studies Association conference in Budapest, Hungary, June 27-29.
George W. Luther III, Maxwell P. and Mildred H. Harrington Professor of Oceanography in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment, was a keynote speaker at a Collaborative on Oceanographic Chemical Analysis (COCA) workshop at the University of Hawaii, Manoa, in March and the American Chemical Society national meeting in New Orleans in April.
Gregg Silvis, associate university librarian, Information Technology and Digital Initiatives, University of Delaware Library, served as a participant on the ARTstor panel session "ARTstor/Shared Shelf Reception," 2013 Annual Conference of the American Library Association on June 30 in Chicago.
