United Way Employee Campaign thank you event set
9:52 p.m., Jan. 21, 2014--The University of Delaware's 2013 United Way of Delaware employee campaign has concluded and a special “Thank You" event will take place on Friday, Jan. 24, in the Rodney Room of the Perkins Student Center.
This year’s employee campaign co-chaired by Deborah L. Hayes, vice president of communications and marketing, and James Richards, vice provost for graduate and professional education, raised $182,348.

UD’s employees and retirees rose to the challenge and “gave back” to neighbors and communities not only through the generous contributions of money but also with the gift of time to many individuals who depend on United Way and their partner agencies for basic every day needs.
"It’s impossible for us to know the many individuals who will be positivity impacted by UD’s donations,"said Michele W. Jones, who coordinated UD's campaign. .
UD gave diapers to the babies in Delaware when an urgent call came in to the First State for assistance from “Help Me Grow,” a proven system that helps identify at-risk children and connects their families with community-based programs and services.
Volunteers from the University gave their time to the children of Exceptional Care, providing assistance for a Thanksgiving dinner celebration and offering wrapping services for donations that provided enjoyment for the children this holiday season.
"A very special 'thank you' is in order for all UD champions, donors, Days of Caring volunteers and those who donated to the Diaper Drive," Jones said.
