This one-hour seminar, designed to address equal opportunity and affirmative action requirements in hiring new faculty/staff, will highlight best practices and detail requirements for all involved during the recruitment and selection process at UD. Session leaders will talk about the process of hiring, discuss good faith efforts toward diversity, and share some tips about how to administratively move through the search process quickly and effectively.

Feb. 27 – Equity in Brief: Title IX, Campus SaVE Act, and Other Gender-Based Violence Initiatives. This one-hour seminar will highlight some of the changing federal regulations regarding gender-based violence (stalking, sexual assault, sexual harassment and intimate partner violence) on college campuses. The Campus Sexual Violence Elimination (SaVE) Act now requires schools to provide educational programs, such as required primary prevention and awareness programs for incoming students and mandatory education about policies, prevention and awareness for faculty and staff. These changes, and how it will affect UD, will be highlighted in this seminar. Additionally, session leaders will discuss the efforts on campus regarding awareness/prevention campaigns for students, current compliance efforts with Title IX regulations and other gender-based violence initiatives happening on our campus.

May 8 – Equity in Brief: Parental Leave at the University of Delaware. This one-hour seminar, designed to showcase underutilized resources on the UD campus, will present an overview of parental leave at the University.  Panelists will discuss the current policy, share experiences of taking parental leave and highlight relevant resources such as the Nursing Mother’s Room. This seminar is open to all faculty and staff, and managers are encouraged to attend to be able to provide this information to their staff members.
