Guest room renovations complete at Marriott's Courtyard Newark
1:25 p.m., Jan. 30, 2014--When visitors check into Marriott’s Courtyard Newark at the University of Delaware they will find that all the guest rooms have been completely renovated to make their campus stay a comfortable and pleasurable experience.
The renovations follow the rigorous standards of the Marriott brand at the fully operational Marriott Courtyard hotel, which recently began its tenth year of welcoming guests to the UD campus.

The refurbishing completes a total renovation project that previously included an updated fitness center, a new lobby, and the addition of food services such as a bistro featuring Starbucks and a full-service lobby bar trimmed with UD’s colors and featuring pictures of various sports teams and also of the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics, with the hotel serving as a learning laboratory for students in the college’s Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management.
“We are so pleased that we were able to fully renovate our hotel to make it one of the most updated in the Newark area,” said Bill Sullivan, managing director of the Courtyard Newark. “We are proud to be the official hotel of the University of Delaware, and we want our facilities to be an excellent complement to the tradition of excellence in guest service and cuisine that we are known for.”
Sullivan noted that the spacious, impeccably clean guest rooms have new carpets, draperies, artwork, wall coverings, desks and soft chairs, and offer creature comforts for tired travelers such as new mattresses and bedding.
Free and fast Wi-Fi is a brand standard in all areas of the hotel, while the business center has new computers and printers for complimentary guest usage.
Business travelers, parents of students and those attending meetings at UD can unwind after a busy day thanks to a newly renovated indoor pool and hot tub, decorated with new pool area furniture.
Dining amenities include a full breakfast buffet on weekends, while the bistro is the place to sample sumptuous culinary creations including the perennial Delaware Today Best of Delaware crab cakes created by Mark Chopko, hotel executive head chef. Guests can always enjoy free coffee in the main lobby and outside dining on the patio.
Campus and local business customers are invited to preview the Courtyard Newark's new look during an open house slated from 2-7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20, Sullivan said.
“Our hotel has consistently ranked as one of the best in the Marriott brand for guest service and repeat guest stays, and we offer the highly valued Marriott Reward Point program to thank our guests for their loyalty,” Sullivan said. “We hope travelers to UD will come visit us and continue to allow us to serve their guests and business functions.”
