Chicago Sky, Delle Donne to play WNBA preseason game at UD
4:07 p.m., Feb. 18, 2014--The Chicago Sky will host the first-ever WNBA preseason game in the state of Delaware on Tuesday, May 13, at 7 p.m. The Sky will take on the Washington Mystics at the Bob Carpenter Center at the University of Delaware, the alma mater of the 2013 WNBA Rookie of the Year Elena Delle Donne.
Delle Donne began her esteemed career at UD in 2009 and became one of the most successful athletes in the University’s history.

She was awarded the Senior CLASS Award and Honda Award in 2013, and was a first team All-American and National Player of the Year candidate in her junior and senior seasons.
The Chicago Sky drafted Delle Donne with the second overall pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft, and she will kick-off her second season with the Sky this May.
"We're thrilled to welcome back Elena and her new team the Chicago Sky to The Bob this coming May,” said Eric Ziady, UD director of athletics and recreation services. “We're so proud of Elena's accomplishments both on and off the court this past year at the professional level and know all of Delaware will welcome her back with open arms to the place where she and her teammates had so many memorable moments."
“We’re so appreciative of the opportunity to bring our team to the University of Delaware to prepare for our upcoming season,” said Sky head coach and general manager Pokey Chatman. “The tremendous support of the Delaware faithful was evident throughout Elena’s rookie campaign, so I anticipate a great environment for WNBA on the 13th of May.”
A representative of the Sky said the team is proud to partner with UD, DuPont, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware, Delaware Sports Commission, Christiana Health Care System, Delaware Express, Courtyard Newark at the University of Delaware, Grotto Pizza, Blood Bank of Delmarva, Delaware River and Bay Authority and National 5 and 10 to bring this WNBA game to the many loyal fans in Delaware who have shown unwavering support for their hometown hero, Delle Donne, and her newest team the Chicago Sky.
Tickets for the Chicago Sky vs. Washington Mystics preseason game will go on sale to the public on Monday, March 17. Fans can purchase tickets by phone at 1-800-745-3000, online via Ticketmaster, or in person at the UD box office at the Bob Carpenter Center between 8:30-4:30 Monday-Friday.
