New RIDE ridesharing program marks first month at UD

8:08 a.m., Feb. 18, 2014--The University of Delaware has launched a new ridesharing program that makes commuting easier and less expensive, while also helping the environment.

The month-old RIDE service makes it easy for staff, faculty and students to share their commute to and from campus.

2FA protects you

If you are using two-factor authentication (2FA), even if a hacker has your password, your information is probably safe.

Members who join RIDE will save at least 40 percent on their commuting costs while supporting UD's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.

Last fall, members of the campus community were asked about ridesharing and most said they believed that saving both money and the environment was important.

And now, just a month after the launch of RIDE, hundreds have already joined.

A RIDE representative said reasons to join include:

  • Spending less time driving and more time on work, or even catching a few extra winks;
  • Saving money and helping UD meet its sustainability pledges; and
  • Commuting for free, if you choose to be a driver.

RIDE is simple. Those who are interested can just sign up and share information about their commute. RIDE will match them with members of the UD campus community who live near them and calculate their savings.

Members of the campus community can register here.
