University Library offers Adobe Photoshop multimedia workshops


8:15 a.m., Feb. 10, 2014--The University of Delaware Library will present three workshops on the functions of Adobe Photoshop during the spring semester.

Adobe Photoshop is the Swiss army knife of multimedia applications. It is useful for a number of projects such as animation, photo editing, graphic design, web design, poster design and much more.

If you are using two-factor authentication (2FA), even if a hacker has your password, your information is probably safe.

Three levels of workshops will be offered “Adobe Photoshop: The Basics,” “Adobe Photoshop: Beyond the Basics” and “Adobe Photoshop: Advanced Techniques.”

The “Adobe Photoshop: The Basics” workshop is for those with little or no experience with Photoshop who want to learn the basics and will cover how to: crop, resize and combine images; use layers and layer masks; adjust curves, saturation and color; and export for the web or print. 

“Adobe Photoshop: Beyond the Basics” will bring participants’ skills to the next level. It will cover keyboard shortcuts, camera RAW, retouching, filters, Smart Objects, advanced typography and much more. 

“Adobe Photoshop: Advanced Techniques,” the last workshop in the series, is fast paced. Topics will include merging and grouping layers, blending modes, the brush panel and the “mixer” brush, HDR techniques, advanced masking and smart object workflows.

“Adobe Photoshop: The Basics” will be offered on Monday, Feb. 17, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the Student Multimedia Design Center, Room B, on the lower level of the Morris Library. Presenter will be Nico Carver, assistant librarian, Student Multimedia Design Center.

“Adobe Photoshop: Beyond the Basics” will be offered on Monday, Feb. 24, from 1:30-3:30 p.m., also in Room B of the Student Multimedia Design Center. Carver will be the presenter.

“Adobe Photoshop: Advanced Techniques” will be offered on Monday, March 3, from 1:30-3:30 p.m., also in Room B of the Student Multimedia Design Center. Carver will be the presenter.

These workshops are available at no charge and are open to University of Delaware faculty, staff and students. Seating is limited and registration is required. Online registration is available.
