UD alumni, president to tour Under Armour headquarters


8:52 a.m., Feb. 28, 2014--University of Delaware alumni are invited to join President Patrick Harker for a special “Evening at Under Armour” at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, at the company’s headquarters in Baltimore.

Those who participate will tour the Under Armour campus and learn about the company’s history, as well as its goals and direction for the future.

UD ROTC cadets will run from New York City to Miami this month to raise awareness about veterans' affairs.

Harker will speak about the University’s relationship with Under Armour.

Tuesday, March 4, 6 p.m.: Career Networking Night. The College of Arts and Sciences, in collaboration with UD’s Career Services Center, will host Career Networking Night at the Trabant University Center. There will be opportunities for career conversations and networking with fellow alumni.

Tuesday, March 4, 6:30 p.m.: Kent, Sussex Trivia Night. The Kent and Sussex Alumni Club will hold Trivia Night at Grotto’s pizza in Dover.

Wednesday, March 5, 5 p.m.: Philadelphia happy hour. Philadelphia Blue Hens will hold happy hour upstairs at the Black Sheep.

Saturday, March 8, 7 p.m.: Men’s crew alumni winter social. The UD Men’s Crew Alumni Association will host a winter social at the historic Malta Boathouse on Kelly Drive in Philadelphia. 

Tuesday, March 11, 5 p.m.: Philadelphia ice hockey. Alumni are invited to join Philadelphia area alumni as the Flyers host the New Jersey Devils in an NHL game at the Wells Fargo Center. Meet before the game at McFadden’s at the Ballpark for complimentary appetizers and drink specials.

Wednesday, March 12, 4 p.m.: Art history grad student research. Alumni are invited to attend an evening of original research by UD art history graduate students. The presentations will be moderated by Camara Holloway, assistant professor of art history.

Wednesday, March 12, 5:30 p.m.: Boston Celtics game. The Boston Alumni Club invites alumni to a game between the Celtics and the New York Knicks at TD Garden.

Thursday, March 13, 6 p.m.: New York ‘Evening of Conversations and Connections.’ UD alumni, friends and students are invited to the third annual “Evening of Conversations and Connections” in New York City. The evening’s theme will be “Social Media: Its Impact and Future,” and the event will showcase talented UD alumni.

Tuesday, March 18, 6 p.m.: Boston board meeting. The Boston Alumni Club will hold its annual open board meeting, along with a happy hour, at the Landsdowne Pub.

Friday, March 21, 7 p.m.: New Castle painting class. A local artist will teach a two-hour BYOB painting class in an event sponsored by the New Castle County Alumni Club in Kennett Square, Pa.

Sunday, March 23, 3 p.m.: Geological Society happy hour. Blue Hens are invited to happy hour at Annie Bailey’s Irish Pub in Lancaster, Pa., in conjunction with the 49th annual meeting of the Northeastern Section of the Geological Society of America

Friday, March 28, 5 p.m.: Hershey Bears hockey game. Lancaster, Pa., alumni will gather for a Hershey Bears ice hockey game against the Albany Devils at the Giant Center in Hershey, with a pre-game reception at the Bears Den at Hershey Lodge.

Sunday, March 30, 9:30 a.m.: National Aquarium in Baltimore. Alumni are invited to a private immersion tour and breakfast at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. The event offers a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility.

Monday, March 31, 7 p.m.: Hoboken Zog kickball. Alumni are invited to join fellow Blue Hens for kickball at Mama Johnson Field in Hoboken, N.J.

Sunday, April 6, 1 p.m.: Grape to plate. Blue Hens in the Reading, Pa., area are invited to a wine trail and culinary adventure at the Pinnacle Ridge Winery in Kutztown.

Wednesday, April 9, 5:30 p.m.: Art History Graduate Student Lecture Series. Alumni are invited to a lecture by Christiane Gruber on “Prophetic Products: The Prophet Muhammad in Contemporary Iranian Visual Culture.”

Friday, April 25, 1 p.m.: ‘Art and Science: Connections and Intersections.’ Alumni are invited to a symposium on the relationships among arts, science and technology organized by the Department of Art History and the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratory.

Wednesday, May 7, 6:30 p.m.: Art History Graduate Student Lecture Series. Alumni are invited to the Wayne Craven Lecture, as S. Hollis Clayson of Northwestern University speaks on “Episodes from the Visual Culture of Electric Paris.”
