2014 Winter Faculty Institute scheduled Jan. 9 in Trabant University Center


8:20 a.m., Dec. 16, 2013--The Winter Faculty Institute (WFI) is a one-day event at the University of Delaware designed for faculty to take advantage of the latest research and technological advances in classroom and online instruction. The program changes each year to reflect the latest progress demonstrated by UD faculty, the newest insights from educational research and the latest opportunities presented by technological advances.

The 2014 event will be held in the Multipurpose Room of the Trabant University Center on Thursday, Jan. 9, from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. A continental breakfast and a buffet lunch will be provided.

June 6: UDid It! Picnic

All UD faculty and staff members are invited to attend the annual UDid It! employee appreciation picnic, set from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Monday, June 6, on The Green.

The keynote session presented by Bob Gonyea, associate director of Indiana University Center for Postsecondary Research, on “The Use of Student Engagement Data in the Assessment of Liberal Learning” and the subsequent workshop will be of interest to all those who teach at UD.

Gonyea’s sessions will provide an opportunity to explore what student engagement results tell us about best practices in teaching and learning.

The afternoon program will complement the themes raised by Gonyea, as UD faculty share recent perspectives from their diverse disciplines.

UD faculty who will present at the institute include:

  • John Barshaw, director, Higher Education Consortia;
  • Alex Brown and Anu Sivaraman, Department of Business Administration;
  • Phil Duker, Department of Music;
  • David Ames, director, Center for Historic Architecture and Design;
  • Nancy O’Laughlin and Mathieu Plourde, IT Academic Technology Services; and
  • Joe Harris, Department of English.
