Grad student teaching assistants invited to share teaching experiences, perceptions

5:37 p.m., April 22, 2014--This spring the University of Delaware is participating in a study focused on understanding the experiences, professional development and perceptions of graduate student teaching assistants (TAs).

The Faculty Survey of Student Engagement for Graduate Student Instructors (FSSE-G) is a pilot study being conducted by the Center for Postsecondary Research at Indiana University.  UD regularly collaborates with these researchers in other studies, including the National Survey of Student Engagement, which is currently being administered to UD undergraduate first-year and senior students.

Responses to this survey will inform UD about the experiences of graduate student TAs to identify areas where they are excelling and areas where additional professional development and support can be offered.

Graduate student TAs will receive an e-mail invitation to participate in the survey at the end of April.

UD staff in the Office of Graduate and Professional Education, Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness and Center for Teaching and Assessment of Learning plan to share results from this survey with the entire UD community this fall by updating UD’s Institutional Research website, sharing reports, conducting presentations and offering consultations.

Contact the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness at 302-831-2021 or for more information.
