Legacy Receptions

University Alumni Association announces two Legacy Receptions

9:04 a.m., April 9, 2014--The University of Delaware Alumni Association (UDAA) will host two Legacy Receptions this month for alumni whose children have been admitted to the University.

The receptions will be on Saturday, April 12, and Saturday, April 19, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in Daugherty Hall in the Trabant University Center, 17 West Main Street.

Campus Stories

From graduates, faculty

As it neared time for the processional to open the University of Delaware Commencement ceremonies, graduating students and faculty members shared their feelings about what the event means to them.

Doctoral hooding

It was a day of triumph, cheers and collective relief as more than 160 students from 21 nations participated in the University of Delaware's Doctoral Hooding Convocation held Friday morning on The Green.

The reception will run in conjunction with the Office of Admissions’ Decision Days.

“The Legacy Receptions exists to welcome back UD alumni and their children who’ve been admitted to the University of Delaware as students through the admissions process via an event which celebrates all that is fresh, new and exciting here at the University,” said Lauren Murray Simione, a 1995 alumna and associate director with the Office of Alumni Relations. “Alumni are usually awed at the new buildings, technology and wonderful changes and developments here on campus and here in Newark. The Legacy Receptions are a chance for alumni and future UD students to meet and aid them in their college education path forward.”

The future Class of 2018 will be greeted by members of the UD Student Alumni Ambassadors (SAAs), as well as UDAA board members, all of whom are UD alums. They will be ready to answer questions and share their stories and experiences about campus life at UD.

As with any good event, light refreshments and cake will be served.  Legacy students will be given a keepsake gift to celebrate their admission as well as their legacy as Blue Hens.

Information about Decision Days was included in the admittance package sent by the Office of Admissions. If your student has not already done so, ask them to register for Decision Days at this website.

It is not necessary to register for a Legacy Reception but those with questions about the receptions only can email the UDAA at or contact Lauren Simione at 302-831-1408.

“We look forward to seeing UD alumni and their children and welcoming them to campus,” Simione said. “Dare to be a Blue Hen -- students today, Blue Hens forever.”
