Newark Police investigate service station robbery

3:46 p.m., Sept. 11, 2012--Newark Police are investigating a robbery that occurred around 10:15 p.m., Monday, Sept. 10, at the Exxon Convenience Store at 820 South College Ave. in Newark.

A man entered the store, presented cash and ordered cigarettes from a male clerk. When the clerk retrieved the cigarettes and opened the register, the man reached over the counter and removed an undisclosed amount of currency. He then fled the store and got into the front passenger seat of a waiting vehicle, which was last seen going south on South College Avenue. The clerk was not injured.

The suspect is described as 25 to 30 years old, approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall with a thin build and dark colored hair. He was wearing a flat-brimmed red or orange baseball cap, black T-shirt, gray or green athletic pants and dark colored shoes. The vehicle is described as a dark-colored, large four-door sedan. 

Police have released surveillance photos of the suspect.
