POW-MIA flag
University to add POW-MIA banner to campus flagstaffs on Sept. 21
10:46 a.m., Sept. 13, 2012--University of Delaware Maintenance and Operations has announced that the POW-MIA banner in remembrance of those held as prisoners of war or missing in action will be added to flagstaffs across campus on Friday, Sept. 21.
Gov. Jack Markell signed into law House Bill 276, which requires Delaware state agencies, including all public schools, to display a POW-MIA flag on National POW-MIA Recognition Day, the third Friday in September.

All military installations fly the National League of Families’ POW-MIA flag, which symbolizes the nation’s remembrance of those who have been imprisoned while serving in conflicts and those who remain missing.
The POW-MIA flag will also be displayed at UD on Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day.
Flags are a service of the University’s Maintenance and Operations Department.
