It states: “The Graduate Student Government commends the Office of Graduate and Professional Education on their efforts to put forth the first ever New Graduate Student Orientation Week, and expresses a strong recommendation to continue these efforts moving forward.”
“The Office of Graduate and Professional Education did an outstanding service to our students by putting on an orientation week,” said Emily Bonistall, GSG president, noting that activities included a welcome center, discussions of academic and student life, campus resources, pizza parties, a picnic, a grant writing workshop and Graduate Student Convocation.
“The feedback heard from students was that the orientation week was a huge success that helped to make them feel transitioned and welcome on campus,” she said.
As such, the Bonistall said the GSG -- on behalf of graduate students and new graduate students in particular -- decided to write a formal senate resolution to thank the Office of Graduate and Professional Education for its efforts. The resolution will be posted on the GSG website.
