The morning keynote speaker is Alan Daugherty of the University of Kentucky (UK), who will speak about the role of angiotensin peptides in the development of atherosclerosis and aortic aneurysms.
Daugherty is the director of the Cardiovascular Research Center at UK and is the editor-in-chief of Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology, the official journal of the American Heart Association.
The afternoon session welcomes keynote speaker Tatiana Byzova, the Robert Canova Endowed Chair in Angiogenesis Research in the Department of Molecular Cardiology, Center for Thrombosis and Vascular Biology at the
Lerner Research Institute, Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
Byzova will speak about the mechanisms governing the pathological and adaptive vasculature development and neoangiogenesis in adult organisms.
There will also be presentations by invited faculty from the University of Delaware, Temple University, the University of Pennsylvania, Thomas Jefferson University, and guest speakers from the National Institutes of Health Chemical Genomics Center (NCGC), Nemours, Merck Pharmaceuticals and Perkin Elmer.
Presentations will be on basic and translational cardiovascular research as well as molecular mechanism of thrombosis, anti-thrombotic interventions, and assay development for high throughput screening for intervention of various cardiovascular diseases.
In addition, there will be a poster session featuring work by UD scientists, graduate students, and outside presenters. Several awards for the outstanding posters will be presented. Posters should be no larger than 32 by 40 inches. Vendors will also be on-site.
