United Way campaign has received more than $119,000 from UD employees
8:47 a.m., Oct. 31, 2012--In its fourth week, faculty and staff contributed more than $119,000 to the University of Delaware’s United of Way of Delaware campaign. But with just two weeks remaining, campaign officials on campus say there’s still more work to do.
“The United Way of Delaware has served families in Delaware for over 40 years and continues to make our community a better place to live and work,” said Jennifer (J.J.) Davis, vice president for finance and administration and co-chair of this year’s campaign.

“Participation and contributions by UD faculty and staff have a truly significant impact on the United Way’s ability to provide crucial serves in the community. In the past, both faculty and staff have stepped up to support the United Way, and we are confident we can count on them to come through once again this year,” said Davis.
Days of Caring
UD will be participating in two “Days of Caring” projects for Exceptional Care for Children, Delaware’s only 24-hour, skilled pediatric nursing facility for transitional or long-term care on Friday, Nov. 2, from 4-7 p.m., and Friday, Nov. 16, from 4-7 p.m. UD volunteers are signed up and ready to begin.
Supply and Personal Item Drive
UD will be collecting school supplies and personal items in order to help Children and Families First, which provides services to thousands of people across the state of Delaware each year. There will be four collection sites located at the Newark campus, and one collection site at both the Georgetown and Lewes campuses. The drive will begin on Monday, Nov. 5, and end on Friday, Nov. 16. More details will be forthcoming in the next week.
