Hens can celebrate Homecoming on Twitter, Foursquare, Storify, Facebook

10:27 a.m., Oct. 15, 2012--As Homecoming 2012 begins, the University of Delaware encourages Blue Hens to share and enhance their experiences using social media. 

For the second year in a row, the official hashtag to represent Homecoming on Twitter is #UDHC. Students and alumni can use #UDHC to share their homecoming experiences and interact with fellow Blue Hens on campus and across the world.

As it neared time for the processional to open the University of Delaware Commencement ceremonies, graduating students and faculty members shared their feelings about what the event means to them.

It was a day of triumph, cheers and collective relief as more than 160 students from 21 nations participated in the University of Delaware's Doctoral Hooding Convocation held Friday morning on The Green.

UD Social Media has created a Homecoming 2012 Storify story, which will be populated by pictures, tweets and posts by everyone who uses the #UDHC hashtag by the end of Homecoming weekend. Similar to the Storify stories created for Alumni Weekend and 1743 Welcome Days, the goal of a Storify story is for everyone in the UD community to be able to contribute to and tell the whole Homecoming story.

Blue Hens can use social media to win prizes throughout the week at various Student Spirit Stations. Students who stop by wearing UD gear can check in to these stations using Foursquare, or “like” the UD Homecoming Facebook page in order to win Homecoming beads, sunglasses, backpacks and more.
