UD Library announces digital humanities research guide, sampler workshop

11:09 a.m., Oct. 31, 2012--The University of Delaware Library has announced a new research guide on “digital humanities,” which is available online in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Humanities Research Center.

Maureen Cech, assistant librarian in the Manuscripts and Archives Department, along with Hannah Lee and Nico Carver, both assistant librarians in the Student Multimedia Design Center, created the new library research guide.

Digital humanities is an evolving collaborative, interdisciplinary field whose practitioners apply technology to humanistic inquiry. The field produces new modes of scholarship and develops technologies to address the research questions and imaginative work that characterize the humanities.

In addition, the University of Delaware Library invites the campus community to the digital humanities sampler workshop presented by Cech and Jaime Margalotti, senior assistant librarian, both of the Manuscripts and Archives Department, on Friday, Nov. 9, from 3:30-5 p.m., in the Class of 1941 Lecture Room in the Morris Library. The workshop is open to the public. Light refreshments will be available.

Both the new digital humanities research guide and the workshop will be held in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Humanities Research Center in the College of Arts and Sciences, which is leading a University-wide initiative to raise awareness of digital humanities scholarship.
