Blue Hens to gather for activities including UD football watch parties

2:32 p.m., Oct. 19, 2012--University of Delaware alumni are gathering for Homecoming activities and will be getting together in coming weeks for a broad range of activities, including the Far Hills Race Meeting in New Jersey and the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston.

Blue Hens football is on the schedule Saturdays, Oct. 27 and Nov. 3, with alumni watch parties planned in a variety of locales including Delaware, Washington, D.C., Omaha, Neb., and Cayce, S.C.

Alumni activities for Homecoming and in coming weeks include:

Friday, Oct. 19, 5:30 p.m.: Presidential Citation for Outstanding Achievement Ceremony & Reception. The Presidential Citation for Outstanding Achievement honors UD graduates of the last 20 years who exhibit great promise in their professional careers and/or public service activities. The ceremony and reception are open to the public (registration required).

Friday, Oct. 19, 8 p.m.: Homecoming 2012: Blue Hens on Main. Get Homecoming weekend off to a great start with a night out on the town featuring late-night breakfast, snacks, prizes and much more. All Blue Hens on Main attendees can receive free admission to the UD Volleyball game preceding the event.

Saturday, Oct. 20, 10 a.m.: UD Alumni Tailgate at The Hunt. Join Blue Hens for the third annual tailgate at the Far Hills Race Meeting “The Hunt" in Far Hills, N.J., sponsored by UD's Northern New Jersey Alumni Club.

Saturday, Oct. 20, 11 a.m.: Boston Alumni Club at Head of the Charles Regatta. Join fellow Blue Hens at the world’s largest two-day rowing event. Cheer on fellow Blue Hens who will be racing while enjoying refreshments at the UD tent in Reunion Village.

Wednesday, Oct. 24, 6 p.m.: Operations Management Alumni-Student Connections Dinner. Join fellow OM Blue Hens for a free networking dinner in Clayton Hall on the Laird Campus in Newark.

Thursday, Oct. 25, 5:30 p.m.: Shaping Artistic Legacies: Robert Rauschenberg and Philip Johnson. Join fellow Blue Hens for this free lecture, hosted by the Friends of Art History, on the Newark campus.

Thursday, Oct. 25, 6:30 p.m.: Washington, D.C., Alumni Wine Tasting Reception. Enjoy a sampling of wines and light hors d'oeuvres at Veritas Wine Bar, while catching up with old friends, making new connections and sharing favorite memories of UD.

Saturday, Oct. 27, noon: Football Watch Party in Wilmington: UD vs. Old Dominion. Brush up on the Fight Song, wear your Blue and Gold, and join us at Grotto's Pizza in Wilmington, Del., to cheer on the Fightin' Blue Hens as they take on the Old Dominion Monarchs. This event is family friendly, so bring the kids.

Saturday, Oct. 27, noon: UD Football Watch Party in Allentown, Pa., -- UD vs. Old Dominion. Join the Lehigh Valley Alumni Club for a fun football watch party at the Copperhead Grille in Allentown. 

Saturday, Oct. 27, noon: UD Football Watch Party in Washington, D.C. -- UD vs. Old Dominion. Come out to Penn Social in D.C. to watch the Fightin' Blue Hens take on Old Dominion as they try to continue their winning streak.

Monday, Oct. 29, 7 p.m.: Delaware Alumni Reception at the AIChE Annual Meeting.

Saturday, Nov. 3, 10:30 a.m.: UD Football Watch Party in Omaha, Neb. -- UD vs. Towson. Join fellow Blue Hens at the home of Larry Gittelman, Class of 1992, in Omaha to watch the football team on national television and cheer them on.

Saturday, Nov. 3, 11:30 a.m.: UD Football Watch Party in Reading, Pa., -- UD vs. Towson.
Join the Reading Alumni Club to cheer on the Blue Hens as they play on national television.

Saturday, Nov. 3, noon: UD Football Watch Party in Washington, D.C. -- UD vs. Towson. Join fellow Blue Hens in D.C. to cheer on UD. The game will be broadcast on the Comcast Sportsnet Network. Wear your blue and gold.

Saturday, Nov. 3, noon: South Carolina Alumni Club UD Football Watch Party. Come out to 2108 State in Cacye, S.C., to watch Delaware's Blue Hens take on Towson University. Wear your blue and gold.

Friday, Nov. 9, 5:30 p.m.: Boston Alumni Club at Celtics vs. 76ers game. Watch the Celtics take on the 76ers at TD Garden with fellow Boston area Blue Hens.

Saturday, Nov. 10, 1:30 p.m.: Second Annual Richmond Alumni Club Tailgate at UD v. Richmond. Join Blue Hens of all ages in Richmond as UD takes on Richmond. Enjoy tailgating before the game with family, friends and fellow alumni.

Sunday, Nov. 11, 9:30 a.m. Second Annual South Florida Alumni at the Dolphins. Join fellow Blue Hens at Sun Life Stadium for the game and a special tailgate.

Wednesday, Nov. 14, 5:30 p.m.: Traditional, New and Technical Art Histories at the Red and White Monasteries. Join fellow Blue Hens for this free lecture, hosted by the Friends of Art History, on the Newark campus.

Thursday, Nov. 15, 6 p.m.: An Evening of Conversations and Connections with New York City Alumni. Join alumni, students and friends at this second annual event. Meet and learn from successful UD alumni and expand your professional network. The evening’s theme, “Lessons in Global Strategies,” will feature an interactive discussion focused on the ever-increasing importance of engaging in worldwide business and communications across all industries.
