Winter storm advisory

DEMA issues winter storm advisory for New Castle County

4:25 p.m., Nov. 7, 2012--The Delaware Emergency Management Agency downgraded the winter storm warning for New Castle County issued earlier today to a winter storm advisory. The advisory for snow and sleet remains in effect until 6 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 8. 

According to DEMA, accumulations of from 2 to 4 inches of snow and sleet are expected, with snow mixed with rain and sleet at times. There could be a burst of snow through this evening. Snow may then mix with some rain later tonight.

If you are using two-factor authentication (2FA), even if a hacker has your password, your information is probably safe.

Most of the precipitation should take place on nonpaved surfaces as temperatures drop close to freezing tonight. There could be some slippery spots, epsecially on secondary roads, bridges and other elevated surfaces.

DEMA still advises travelers to take special care tonight and to be prepared for slippery roads and limited visabilities.

Members of the University community are reminded that safety is UD's highest priority. Students and employees should not put themselves at risk. Students who are unable to get to class because of the weather should contact their professors. Employees who expect difficulty traveling this evening should contact their supervisors.
