Opera Theatre opens season with second installment of Opera Now

2:47 p.m., Nov. 14, 2012--The University of Delaware Opera Theatre will open its 2012-13 season with the second installment of its exciting contemporary chamber opera series, Opera Now.

The presentation will be held at 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, in the Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building.

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

Blake Smith will direct and James Allen Anderson will conduct, with Julie Nishimura on piano and Eddy Seger as scenic designer.

This year, Opera Now focuses on a wide selection from the 20th century and modern era, beginning with a short program of scenes from various contemporary operas.

Tickets cost $21 for adults, $17 for senior adults and $7 for students and will be available at the door the evening of the performance. Tickets can be purchased at the door by cash or check only.
