May 30: Digital storytelling

Library offers digital storytelling workshop as part of Summer Faculty Institute


1:57 p.m., May 13, 2013--The University of Delaware Library will present a workshop on digital storytelling on Thursday, May 30, as part of the Summer Faculty Institute.

The workshop is for UD faculty members with little or no experience creating a video. Faculty will go through the steps of producing a short-form digital story — from idea to storyboarding, from shooting to editing, and finally to presenting.

All UD faculty and staff members are invited to attend the annual UDid It! employee appreciation picnic, set from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Monday, June 6, on The Green.

If you are using two-factor authentication (2FA), even if a hacker has your password, your information is probably safe.

Participants will learn what equipment and software are needed and what steps are involved in producing a simple digital story. Attendees will leave with an understanding of how to better plan, produce and evaluate media assignments more effectively.

The workshop will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Thursday, May 30, in Room B of the Student Multimedia Design Center on the lower level of the Morris Library.

Presenters will be Hannah Lee and Nico Carver, assistant librarians, Student Multimedia Design Center.

Lunch, sponsored by Information Technology, will be provided for participants in the Class of 1941 Lecture Room of the Morris Library. John Stevenson, associate librarian, Student Multimedia Design Center, will give an overview of the space and services in the Student Multimedia Design Center during lunch.

The workshop is available at no charge and is open to UD faculty members. Seating is limited and registration is required, and can be completed by going to the Summer Faculty Institute site.

The Summer Faculty Institute is the premiere event at the University for faculty to take advantage of the latest research and technological advances in classroom and online instruction. The program changes each year to reflect the latest progress demonstrated by UD faculty, the newest insights from educational research and the latest opportunities presented by technological advances.
