Nancy Breslin, an alumna of the University of Delaware’s master of fine arts (MFA) degree program and a supplemental faculty member in the Department of Art, and Carrie Mae Smith, a current MFA program student, were invited to spend several months working amongst the collections in Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library.

Reviresco June run

UD ROTC cadets will run from New York City to Miami this month to raise awareness about veterans' affairs.

Breslin and Smith created new works using the inspiration of the historic collections at Winterthur.

“As I spent time there, my ideas continued to spark,” said Breslin.

The joint exhibition will include Breslin’s work with pinhole photography, cell phone photography and video. Smith will showcase several items she constructed, including an attic space she installed in the gallery’s basement.

The exhibition opens with a free reception on April 5 from 6-9 p.m. The two artists will also be giving a joint lecture at Winterthur on Tuesday, April 9, from 12:15-1:15 p.m.

About the collaborative exhibition

The project came about as a result of the Winterthur staff’s desire to build relationships with the emerging Wilmington arts community. Winterthur teamed up with the NWAA, a local arts organization hoping to connect up-and-coming artists with resources available in the area.
