University alumni invited to enjoy brunch and basketball

3:56 p.m., March 15, 2013--University of Delaware alumni are invited to enjoy brunch and basketball as the Bob Carpenter Center serves as an opening round site for the NCAA Division I women’s basketball championship tournament.

On March 24, brunch will be served from 9:30-11 a.m. at Townsend Hall with basketball games at noon and 2:30 p.m. at the Bob Carpenter Center.

The University of Delaware's Nii Attoh-Okine recently published a new book with Cambridge University Press, "Resilience Engineering: Models and Analysis."

Reviresco June run

UD ROTC cadets will run from New York City to Miami this month to raise awareness about veterans' affairs.

Tickets cost $15 for brunch only, $35 for brunch and side court tickets and $28 for brunch and end court bleacher tickets.

Tuesday, March 19, 5:30 p.m.: Culver City happy hour. Los Angeles area alumni are invited to happy hour at Rush Street in Culver City, Calif.

Thursday, March 21, 4:30 p.m.: President’s Leadership Series. Alumni are invited to hear David G. DeWalt, a 1986 UD graduate and chairman of the board and CEO of FireEye, in a President’s Leadership Series presentation.

Thursday, March 21, 5:30 p.m.: Chicago networking. Alumni in the Chicago area are invited to a third Thursday networking and happy hour event at Rockit Bar and Grill.

Saturday, March 23, 9 a.m.: 4th annual UD Easter Egg-stravaganza. The popular annual Easter Egg-stravaganza family event will be held at Clayton Hall.

Saturday, March 23, 7:30 p.m. Blue Hen Concert in Lewes. Sussex County Blue Hens will gather for an intimate house concert-style performance by a Class of 2005 graduate at the Savannah Inn in Lewes, which is owned and operated by Double Dels Gina and D. Turner Hastings of the Class of 2005.

Thursday, April 4, 6 p.m.: School of Public Policy and Administration Scholarship Fundraiser. An auction style social intended to raise tuition scholarships for future students.

Saturday, April 6, 12:30 p.m.: Emancipation Symposium. Participants can mark the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation at the Delaware History Museum. In addition to talks by historians, the symposium will feature a reading by Natasha Trethewey, U.S. poet laureate.

Sunday, April 7, 8 p.m.: Blue Hens Concert in Honolulu. UD alumni in Honolulu will gather for a free concert by Delaware's award-winning Celtic fusion band Mythica, a quartet of Blue Hen musicians.

Tuesday, April 9, 6:30 p.m.: Art investigator. Art investigator Robert Wittman will recount a fascinating 20-year career of fighting art crime, during which time he recovered stolen art and cultural patrimony worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
