UD alumni invited to fourth annual Easter Egg-stravaganza

8:19 a.m., March 1, 2013--University of Delaware alumni are invited to the fourth annual UD Easter Egg-stravaganza to be held Saturday, March 23, at Clayton Hall.

Breakfast seating will be from 9-10:30 a.m. and lunch seating will be from noon-1:30 p.m.

'Resilience Engineering'

The University of Delaware's Nii Attoh-Okine recently published a new book with Cambridge University Press, "Resilience Engineering: Models and Analysis."

Reviresco June run

UD ROTC cadets will run from New York City to Miami this month to raise awareness about veterans' affairs.

The family event will feature photographs with the Easter Bunny, arts and crafts, face painting and balloon animals. There also will be an Easter egg hunt for children 8 and younger, organized by age group.

Cost is $16 for adults and $8 for children. Space is limited, so alumni interested in attending are encouraged to register now.

Tuesday, March 5, 6:30 p.m. New York City Alumni Club board meeting. Meet board representatives, network and learn how to get involved in the New York City Alumni Club.

Thursday, March 7, 6 p.m.: Kent and Sussex wine tasting, poetry. The Kent and Sussex Counties Alumni Club will hold a wine tasting and poetry reading at Nassau Valley Vineyards. Anne Colwell, a 1988 alumna, will share her poetry.

Saturday, March 9, 10 a.m.: Philadelphia’s Please Touch Museum. UD alumni and their families will gather for a fun-filled day at the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia.

Saturday, March 9, 10 a.m.: Baltimore’s Port Discovery. UD alumni and their families will gather for a fun-filled day at the Port Discovery Children’s Museum in Baltimore. Those who attend can enjoy the interactive Wizard of Oz traveling exhibit and a private lunch in the atrium.

Saturday, March 9, 7 p.m.: Crew alumni winter party. The UD Men’s Crew Alumni Association and the Women’s Rowing Alumni will host a winter social at the historic Malta Boathouse, on iconic Boathouse Row on Kelly Drive in Philadelphia. There will be a silent auction, raffle and rowing merchandise for sale.

Sunday, March 10, 3 a.m.: UDance volunteers. UD alumni are encouraged to volunteer to support UDance, a 12-hour dance marathon and the University's largest student-run philanthropy.

Monday, March 11, 5:30 p.m.: Hollywood happy hour. Los Angeles area Blue Hens are invited to happy hour at Dillon’s Irish Pub in Hollywood.

Thursday, March 14, 5 p.m.: UD Day in Washington, D.C. A program and reception to showcase the University of Delaware will be held in Washington, D.C. Alumni are invited to a reception that will be held in the Kennedy Caucus Room, 325 Russell Senate Office Building.

Thursday, March 14, 5:30 p.m. Dallas happy hour. A Blue Hens happy hours will be held in Dallas, with beverages and free appetizers.

Thursday, March 14, 6 p.m. Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston. Alumni will gather for a fun and free evening at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston. Friends and family are welcome.

Friday, March 15, 6 p.m.: Pittsburgh happy hour. The Pittsburgh Alumni Club will gather for happy hour, with non-alumni guests welcome. 

Saturday, March 15, 6 p.m.: UD, Texas Tech choirs. Alumni are invited to attend a special performance and reception featuring singers from UD and Texas Tech in Plano, Texas.

Saturday, March 16, 8:45 a.m.: Saturday Symposium “Celebrating Shakespeare.” Alumni and friends will gather for a celebration of William Shakespeare, with lectures and a tour at the Morris Library and a performance of Hamlet by UD’s Resident Ensemble Players.

Saturday, March 16, 9 a.m.: Breakfast in Dallas. A Blue Hen Breakfast will be held in Dallas, with a representative of the Office of Alumni Relations on hand.

Sunday, March 17, noon: Chorus Line in Lancaster. Alumni are invited to a Lancaster Alumni Club event, with lunch at Penn Square Grill and a performance of A Chorus Line at the Fulton Theatre.

Tuesday, March 19, 5:30 p.m.: Culver City happy hour. Los Angeles area alumni are invited to happy hour at Rush Street in Culver City, Calif.

Thursday, March 21, 4:30 p.m.: President’s Leadership Series. Alumni are invited to hear David G. DeWalt, a 1986 UD graduate and chairman of the board and CEO of FireEye, in a President’s Leadership Series presentation.

Thursday, March 21, 5:30 p.m.: Chicago networking. Alumni in the Chicago area are invited to a third Thursday networking and happy hour event at Rockit Bar and Grill.
