2:03 p.m., June 25, 2013--The University of Delaware’s special 2014 spring break program in France for UD faculty, staff, alumni and friends is quickly filling up. Those who want to go should reserve seats now.

The program, set for March 28-April 5, 2014, will commemorate UD’s historic program in France, in 1923-24, which officially launched study abroad as a new movement in American international education.

Global Stories

Fulbright awards

Three University of Delaware students and an alumna have received word this spring that they will travel abroad as part of the newest class of Fulbright Student Program award winners.

Peace Corps plans

Two University of Delaware students, John McCarron and Bridgette Spritz, have been selected as Peace Corps volunteers and will serve in Ghana and Rwanda.

Amy Johnson, deputy director of UD’s Institute for Global Studies and a professor of nursing with extensive experience leading programs abroad, will serve as the tour host.

Highlights range from touring Montmartre, the artist quarter that many say holds the secrets of Paris’ hidden past, to Normandy Beach, including the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial at Omaha Beach.

A visit to the open-air markets with their delectable chocolates, macaroons and cheeses is included, along with a traditional lunch made from ingredients collected there. A farewell dinner will be held in the Eiffel Tower, 180 feet above Paris.

The trip costs $2,950 per person, double occupancy, and includes roundtrip airfare from Philadelphia, hotel with full breakfasts, Internet access and daily Metro passes. For reservation and payment details, visit this webpage.
